After over 10 years of successful trading, well-known local retailer Annette Wheeler is shutting up shop at ‘Simply Us’ in Latrobe and heading into a brand-new venture.
‘Simply Us’ will have its last trading day on Saturday 25 November, as part of the Latrobe Businesses on Parade celebrations. There will be fashion bargains galore, and also a chance to see what Annette has been working on as she prepares for the next chapter in her busy life.
‘Stage 2 Studio’ is the brainchild of two long-term friends and colleagues, Annette and textile artist Rita Power, and will give free rein to their creativity and imagination. With a very successful Steampunk Festival under their belts, the plan now is to expand the cosplay theme by designing and making historical costumes (medieval, Tudor, 18th Century and Victorian).
This range, which Annette and Rita prefer to call Histryplay, will feature sumptuous fabrics, gorgeous embellishments, authentic undergarments and beautifully boned corsets. Their work will be available on-line and also at their studio by appointment. Annette has found her niche making beautifully embellished top hats (ideal for Melbourne Cup), while Rita is in her element with beading, crocheted lace and knitted fashion accessories with a period twist.
Visit ‘Simply Us’ on 25 November, grab a bargain and say farewell. Annette and Rita will be there to welcome you and will be only too happy to chat about their new venture.
